ELLIPSES OF DIVINITY
During the Middle Ages, circles were seen as symbols of the divine.
Heavenly bodies and all things lifted on the breath of God’s perfection traced unceasing elliptical tracks in the skies. Angels, literally moving in the right circles, amused themselves by looking down upon graceless humanity bungling and gangling along the straight paths of imperfection.
If mankind was to truly persist along such linears and sharp angles, then what do we say of the artists who pursue an appreciation for curvature? Though the answers never truly form, we nonetheless gaze with dutiful reverence at all their creations.
Perhaps somewhere, within the genesis of such artistic minds, we discover the illuminant Ellipses of Divinity.
“Circles and curves,
abundant in my illustrations,
symbolize the bonds between my life and my works of art.”
-- Ave Gaile Peraz
Biography: Born to be an artist October 18, 1979, Ave Gaile Peraz began drawing and painting at the age of 4. Demonstrating her skills at rendering color, form, light and shade, just when her peers were barely learning how to read. By Age 7 she had already sold her first painting. Proving to the world that no other child could hold neither brush, nor crayon against her growing prowess.
Her years advancing and her artistry progressing, Ave Gaile entered the University to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts. Though burdened by the University’s immense academic requirements, Ave Gaile’s talent continued to persist outside of school grounds. As if having her artworks displayed on campus exhibits weren’t enough of an accolade; Ave Gaile became one of the few finalists to top the 1997 Shell Art Competition -- a prestigious annual series that showcased the works of young Filipino visionaries from across the islands.
After graduating from colege, Ave Gaile began applying her trade as an artist professionally. Starting out as a fashion designer for Crimson, then eventually signing up as a graphics designer for global ad agency, Draft FCB, where she caters to the artistic requirements of the country’s top advertisers. And later on she also became one of the graphics-fashion designer for the top brand winkies, ralph lauren, mother-care, sharagano here and abroad.
Between her career, fanaticism for felines, and spinning daydreams into astonishing works of art, Ave Gaile continues to hone her skills in various visual mediums. Pencils, paints or even iMacs, Ave Gaile’s skill as a professional/freelance artist can be seen in numerous ads, murals, scenics, art reproductions, fashion trends and in children’s books where art and literature weave the pages of imagination.
To be lost in the colors and wonders of her opus is not a surprise. Ave Gaile’s works of art refuse to emancipate the soul with its splendor. Every circle, curve and spiral succeed in drawing its admirers deeper within its bliss. Creating an exact reflection of the Divinity that rises above us all.
